The association was established in 1975 to provide business opportunities and Continuing Professional Development for Approved Driving Instructors in Blackburn and surrounding areas.
We now have over 130 ADI members, plus associate members and retired ADI members, making us one of the largest local associations in the country and, we think, one of the best.
All active ADI's are encouraged to join, and we have membership categories for retired and semi-retired ADI's, plus trainee instructors (PDI's).Only fully qualified instructors are listed on the web site - trainees are not.
Business meetings are held usually on the first Monday of the month at
Rishton Golf Club . (Check the top of this page for any change.)
Instructors should contact Terry Charnock if they would like an invitation to attend a meeting or to join the association.
Non-members attending a meeting where there is a guest speaker are asked to pay a small fee at the door, whereas members are free.

Continuing Development
Our members have the benefit of regular correspondence and emails covering a wide variety of business and motoring matters, plus training consultants who are available to answer queries on all aspects of teaching and business procedures.
The association frequently brings in specialists to address members at our meetings.

We are affiliated to ADINJC (Approved Driving Instructors' National Joint Council) and  are part of the North West Federation of Driving Instructors' Associations (NWFDIA), and are in regular contact with the Driving Standards Agency

NWFDIA RoADAR has several excellent RoSPA Gold Standard ADI's, who can help you towards the RoSPA advanced badge.

Notice to the General Public: COMPLAINTS
Contracts between instructors and pupils
are between these two parties, and are not the responsibility of the association, however, a complaints procedure is in place should it be required. The association will look at complaints and be fair in its assessment.
