The association was established in 1975 to provide business opportunities and continuing profession development for approved driving instructors in the Blackburn and surrounding areas. All active ADIs are encouraged to enrol and we have membership categories for retired and semi-retired ADIs, plus trainee instructors. Only fully qualified instructors are listed on our web site and notice board, trainees are not.

Our members have the benefits of regular correspondence and emails covering a wide variety of business and motoring matters, plus training consultants who are available to answer queries on all aspects of teaching and business procedures. The association frequently brings in specialists to address members at their meetings. We are affiliated to ADINJC (the National Joint Council of Approved Driving Instructors) and are in regular contact with the Driving Standards Agency which is responsible for all driving tests conducted in the United Kingdom.

Business meetings are held on the first Monday of the month at Rishton Golf Club Limited. Instructors should contact Terry Charnock if they would like an invitation to attend a meeting or to join the association.

Contracts with instructors and pupils are between these two parties and are not the responsibility of the association. However, in the unlikely event of a complaint, the association will look into the matter and be fair in its assessment and judgement.
